Silver lining to my cloud

Every black cloud looked like smoke today. And every scent of barbecues smelled like fire. I switched the cooker off after dinner then checked it three hundred times. But now I'm walking round making sure all the electrical outlets are cool. Unplug the kettle and the clock in the spare room. Crawl under the desk for the socket for the TV. Wonder what I've forgotten. And say a prayer for the neighbors who have nothing left.

Suddenly, instead of feeling neurotic, I realize how lucky I am... and check the outlets again.
