Forgiveness

I've been drabbling my way through Revelation on my gather page, and a friend commented on one of my entries (Day 42) that "forgiveness is merely overlooking the mistakes made by others..."

But what if overlooking another's mistake feels like sacrificing yourself all over again - your feelings not only unimportant to everyone else, but even to yourself?

Maybe that's when we pray, as Christ did, "Father forgive," and let God do for us what we can't do for ourselves. Forgiveness becomes not "merely overlooking the mistakes," but releasing ourselves from the mistakes of others so we become free to be healed.
