Children's reads are short fast and fun

A publisher just posted an article in which he spotlights some of my reviews, and I'm awed to be listed with such great names. Just follow this link:

and see what he says. (You could even follow his links to some of my reviews!)

But some of that huge number of yearly reviews (272 + 20) are for children's books. The reviews themselves take just as long to write, but the books can be read much faster. Maybe they skew the numbers a bit and I'm not quite as prolific a reader as I seem. Or maybe everyone's allowed the occasional fast read. And hey, I like children's books. So, grab a coffee and enjoy a few reviews:

Oliver cat and Jumpy kangaroo continue their adventures in Oliver and Jumpy stories 10-12, by Werner Stejskal. One of the best things about this series is the author invites readers to suggest their own stories to him. Plus the voices of cat and kangaroo are fun. Enjoy with some bright lively easy-drinking 2-star coffee.

Meanwhile, Maya and Filippo Visit San Francisco, in Alinka Rutkowska's latest picture book. The children have their characteristic enthusiasm and curiosity, and the pictures are brightly skewed and fun. Questions at the end of the book at to the interest, and it's a fun little story to enjoy with some more 2-star coffee.

Three Tales, Four Dogs, by Roz Silva, is probably my favorite of these. After all, I love dogs. The pictures and stories remind me of reading with my kids (and make me almost wish I still had small kids). Illustrations are filled with enticing detail, inviting small readers to search and solve as parents read to them. And the writing is simple, uncluttered, and easily read aloud. These dogs are all very safe and happy of course, and parents should still remind their kids that not all dogs will treat them kindly. Enjoy these fun stories with more 2-star lively cups of coffee, and juice for the children.
