I'm an ABNA quarter-finalist !!!!!

Okay, so ABNA, for those not addicted to writing competitions, means Amazon Breakout Novel Award. This is the first year I've dared to enter. And I got an email from Amazon last night to say I'd reached the quarter-finals! That means me and 499 others, but there's "real" authors included in that list - people whose books I've bought and paid for and read and thoroughly enjoyed. So it may be raining miserably outside, but here at my computer I'm over the moon and basking in literary sunshine.

There are other rewards too, besides sunshine. My first 24 pages are now a free download on Amazon shorts - http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001UG3C1M - and real people, friends and strangers, can rate and review. Plus I already have one review, written by a genuine "Amazon Vine" reviewer. Meanwhile the folk at Publishers Weekly are reading and reviewing all 500 quarter-final entries. In April the Penguin editors will narrow the list to 100. And those who make it to the top 100 get to see their Publishers Weekly reviews as well.

As for me, I'm just delighted to have made it this far, and I hope you'll consider going over to Amazon to read all the great entries there.

Good luck, Sheila!

By the way, you have been awarded and tagged over at Murder by 4, and I'm required to leave an obnoxious comment informing you of such. :-)
